FIMEC motors type 'VE' and 'DP' are enclosed by an external surface ventilation and provided with a squirrel cage rotor. They are designed, manufactured and tested in compliance with the agreed CEI Standards 2-3, with the IEC 34-1 International Recommendations and with the main foreign Standards.
With regard to the coupling power sizes, these motors are standardised and comply with the agreed UNEL National Standardsthe IEC 72 International Recommendations and the Standardisation adopted by EU member countries. From size 71-160 these motors can aslo be provided with a d.c. light security brake (type 'T') without altering the overall dimensions.
Both the 'Three Phase Motors' and the 'Three Phase Motors With Security Brake' can be manufactures with special and/or reduced flanges and shafts.
The FIMEC
Asynchronous Three Phase Brake Motor consists of an enclosed motor
(manufactured in accordance with the agreed UNEL-IEC dimensions) and of a
friction disc brake with electromagnetic attraction which stops when
the current is interruputed. Consequently the main feature of this motor is
that it stops after any intentional or unintentional interruption to the current.
There are two benefits from this. Firstly, if the current is unintentionally
interruped, the brake motor immediately stops the machines moving components.
Secondly, should it ever become necessary to stop the machine quickly, this
can be done by simply applying the motor brake.
For the above reasons, the use of brake motors is usually preffered to that
of standard motors, particularly in cases where the ability to stop the machine
quickly is of primary importance. Features of the FIMEC brake motors
are as follows:
FIMEC brake motors are also available with a double polarity. They are manufactured with a single winding with six buckles (type 'F'), or with a double winding with twelve buckles (type 'DPF').
